Mid Autumn

of mooncakes and lanterns

astonishment at the difficulties in finding a couple of lanterns

and a few packets of sparklers

panic as fumes fills the room

laughter follows

the lanterns illuminate to a beautiful comforting glow

emitting soft warmth from within

lanterns were never special themselves

always requiring that correct chemistry

of a candle, and that spark

to start the flame going and growing

let the candle burn

don't let the flame extinguish

lets keep this beautiful sight and touch

of the unification of

a simple lantern, candle and spark
